Addax The Addax originated in North Africa which accounts for many of its physical features. The white fur, which prevents to much heat absorption, is in contrast to the dark skin which protects against the suns ultra-violet rays. Their broad, round hoofs aid in traveling over sand, while the hair covering the muzzle and its long ear hairs prevent the sand from entering these areas. Calves, at birth, have tan fur with white face and head markings, but will be predominately white by the time they are six to seven weeks old. Both the male and female Addax will grow horns, the male horns having up to three more twist, they are commonly thicker than the female horns as well. A nomadic creature by nature, the Addax can be contained when their dietary requirements are met. This being the case, they are suitable animals for a game ranch.
